Snails out of water

3 days ago I added 3 Zebra and 3 Zorro nerites. The Zorros all 3 stay out of the water on the top ridge and on the hood. I also have 3 Mysteries ,5 Horned nerites and 1 Betta. Any ideas why only the Zorros stay out?

Nerites will leave water naturally. They tend to explore. A hood or lid is helpful to keep them from escaping

My hood is homemade for lighting purposes so I have to check 2-3 times a day and do a round up. It's a carpeted room so they don't get far. Drives my wife crazy, she sleeps with her mouth open. I plan on getting a Peanut M&M and putting it in her mouth and 'accidentally' waking her while looking for the missing snail.
