what else can I put with my cichlids in 75 gal
 
I have a 75 gal tank with 2 demasoni's 1 ice blue 1yellow lab 1 ruby peacock and 1 grey with black stripes not sure what he is. Just wanting know what else I can put in with these I'm nes to cichlids and just want to get the full use out of my 75 gal

This is my first big tank (75 gal) so which is better on sump or hob filter and also I have 6 african cichlids in my tank how many can I put in there and maybe some sorta catfish sorry for all the questions I'm a newb...

canister filter is the way to go!

Yup, one big one or two smaller ones. With your African cichlids, I think you should get 2 canisters rather than 1.

I have never used a canister filter are they hard to maintain

I clean mine twice a year. There is nothing easier, in my experience. Cleaning them is a bit more work than with HOBs, but on the whole they are very easy.

exactly. what jaysee said. very low maintenance and is better then one large. they will also be alot more quiet then then hobs will be.

Look no further.... There is a brand of canister filter on eBay called sunsun (also sold under different names, like aquatop) that I like very much - I have 4 of them. They are the white filters (do a search for canister filter).

There are 3 sizes - 265 GPH, 370 GPH and 525 GPH. I would do at least two of the 265s, if not one 265 and one 370. We're it my tank I would have two 370s on it.

I am not knowledgable about African cichlids, but I'm pretty sure that in a 75 gallon tank you can have like 15-20 fish.
