Why do you have your bettas in brackish? & at what salt level?

Hi, I have them in brackish because of all the diseases that are out there, they all do fine. I've bred in brackish and raise the fry in brackish till adulthood and haven't had any problems. why not brackish? Gourami's have to have a little brackish to keep them from getting the salt shakes and they are in the betta family, I figure it would be alright and they are all happy and surviving.

Do fish that are native to brackish water not ever get diseases?
