Where do you have high nitrates in your tank or in your raw tap water?
If it's in the tank then you should try an eliminate the tap water so here is what you should do:
1) Test the tap water you would use and determine the levels.
2) Test a fix of new saltwater with a day or so of aging before you use it in your tank.

Most tap water conditioners are designed to remove chlorine and chloramine.

I'm not sure what either of these responses is trying to communicate. What exactly is the question? :-?

If i understand the question, no it's not good and don't use that tap water... use RO, or RO/DI water for your source water... how many times did you test your water?
