Got Given Some Sort of Catfish, Need Help Figuring Out What Breed He Is 1 Attachment(s) I recently moved house, and my flatmate didn't want his tropical fish anymore, so I offered to take them off his hands. I managed to identify the breed & species of the other fish okay, but the catfish I'm stuck on. I can't find anything that a noob such as myself can pin down as being his species. I've attached an image of him, maybe someone can help me out and tell me what he is? Reason I ask is I'm worried about how big he's going to get (he's already 15cm / 6" long), and what his temperament is like when he's active at night. I woke up this morning and I'm down from 4 neon tetras, down to 2, I can see the body for one of them, the other one is just flat out gone - perhaps it's in the catfish' belly? I can look up that info on my own if I just know what species of catfish he is =X |
Just a guess....Channel Catfish Ictalurus punctatus Don't think that is right, the wiskers on yours look much longer. |
Unfortunately I think you're probably right there, channel catfish look exactly like him =x Jeez, first the Bala Shark, then this guy. Dude who gave me these picked some ridiculous fish for the tank... |
My father has a Channel Cat in a 55 and it is 20in long. o.O He only eats at night with the light out, too. |
Thats just cruel keeping a 20 inch fish in a tank thats only 48 long.........I agree with Twistermom, looks like a channel cattie |
It's not as cruel as what my father is about to do because he's fed up with the algae issue.... He's dumping the fish in a nearby pond. |
