Went for more siamese algae eaters and got flying fox what to do
I just got home from the pet shop which is 30 minutes away. They also just closed 20 min ago. I got 3 siamese algae eaters to add to my 4 however upon closer inspection she got the wrong ones when I was looking at plants. Is it safe to add them, I have sword tails, clown loaches, corys, shirmp, and a twig catfish, and some hatchet fish. Not too happy as if I add them there is little chance I will catch them without tearing apart the aquarium. Help please soon, not sure how long I can keep them in a bag.

What a drag. The same thing happened to me but I always QT my fish for at least 3 weeks before adding them to my display tank so it was easy to return them. I've learned the hard way that it's never safe to add fish unless they are QT'ed prior. Do you still have them in the bag?? If they have been released into your tank you're correct in that you'll never catch them w/out breaking down the tank. They are incredibly fast fish.
If they're still in the bag are you able to set up temporary quarters for them until you can return them? You could always use a plastic bin or bucket filled with water from your main tank, if you had a spare heater & airstone. I would think that would hold them safely for a day. At the moment I can't think of any other ideas :-?

Lol false alarm. There seemed to be some differences in the dorsal fin and coloration the the scales and in how far the black stripe went into the tail fin but after panicking and looking at them one or two more times I realized that they were SAEs. They are schooling better and seem very happy now. I should really do a quarentine tank lol.

Glad it worked out. QT tanks don't have to be fancy or cost alot. Take a look at Tyyrlym's set up. I copied him. :-)
