Near Dead Pacu 911

My husband and I came home tonite to find that the surge protector we have our fish tank plugged into had gotten unplugged by our puppy and our tank was very, very cold. Our Pacu was near dead, floating and not responsive. We immediately filled our bathtub with water, gradually making it warmer for him. He's still floating belly up, occasionally showing slight movement. Our Oscar, who is MUCH smaller, is not very active, but he is definitely alive and swimming along the bottom of the tank. The Pacu is probably 8-10 inches long and 6 months old. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

i had a friend who knew nothing about fish and he put his goldfish in the bathtub! and then they 'mysteriously' died soon after.....
i then told him, it was the soap that killed them......

Depends how clean it is flat but hopefully there wasnt any trace of soap left. Good luck wiith the pacu though.

I believe in a situation like that you need to drain water out of the tank itself maybe 15%-20% and slowly raise the temp by adding warmer water.
Best of luck to you.

Just plug the heater back in and let it go up slowly. Dont transfer it to a bathtub...
