My Female Guppy still fat? PLEASE

My female guppy had 18 babies 2 days ago and after giving birth was still fat, only slightly skinnier than it was before. On top of that she is still acting weird, tail up, hiding in plants by the heater and not allowing the male to get close to her. The fry were safely removed and put in their own tank. Now I'm worried she hadn't finished giving birth and i went and bought a plastic breeder box, which is all my LFS had in stock. So now the question is: Should I put her in tonight?

:-D Thanx to anyone who answers

Shes probably not done, I've had that happen before. I would just leave her there, if you scare or traumatize her she may lose the babies. Any fry born should be fine as long as your adults are well fed. I feed mine 2x/day and they never bother fry.

I think your guppy would prefer the term "big boned". You should be more sensitive to your fishes' feelings, and refrain from calling her fat. Festively plump even?

:p

Perhaps you could even empower her by offering her a venue to control her weight through exercise:

i think your female guppy is fine.....She is probably gonna drop more fry very soon.........I dont ever recall seeing a skinny female guppy..........It seems they are always holding fry in my tank!

When my guppies are like that i just keep a close eye and you'll see in a few days of even a few hours you'll have some new babies! So i would say dont worry she is just loaded with babes!
