saltwater filter cant use a sump best alternatives??
i cant have a sump because of the tanks location and if i did it would be off to the side. what alternatives are the i already have a canister filter. I will be keeping corals and fish.
You'll be cleaning that canister every other day. How big is the tank?
If you can't have a sump, buy a REALLY good protein skimmer, use a 1-1/2 lbs to 2 lbs of Live Rock per gallon, and put about 4-6" of sand on the bottom of the tank.
There's your filtration, believe it or not.
Return the canister if you can.
+1 and some good flow. i cant stress how important a GOOD skimmer is.
I dont have a sump, and a lot of others dont. Like they said above, get rid of the canister filterl. I was in your same position, and you will find that you really need to get a skimmer. A pretty good one can be had for about $200. If you are going to go salt, get ready to spend some extra cash!! It is well worth it though. :)
