Another baby fish question.
Is it ok to let algae grow in their tank or should I get some of those 'algae gone' tablets? So far I'm doing good. Haven't lost any babies. Been changing about a 1/3 of their water a week. And using a little a little Easy Balance.
I now have:
5 - almost four week old swords
1 - two week old Molly (dalmation)
4 - four 6 day old swords
Those were saved from the baby grass in my regular tank and moved to their own tank. I'm sure a lot got eaten before they made it to the safety of the grass. :-(
I have no idea what easy balance is but the water changes are a good idea. Algae is only a problem for the people watching the fish, not a problem for the fish.
Agreed, algae really isn't a problem unless its allowed to get WAY out of hand...and even then its more then it usually won't hurt the fish, just limits vision. I speak from experience here^^;
A little of the stuff here and there never hurt anyone ;-)
However, if your dead set on getting rid of it do NOT use any sort of 'algae gone' or similar chemicals. They will hurt your fish more then the algae will. You can buy little algae scrubbers at your LFS and simply scrub the algae off or even just use your hand to do it during water changes.
Easy Balance....that is some kind of water conditioner, correct?
Yes, Easy Balance is supposed to balance the water appropriately for the fish to flourish. It it includes something called nitraban.
Thought so, no very learned in the conditioner brand area myself xD
yeah for sure, algae is good for them, they like to nibble on it :-)
