Accidental Angel Fish Breeding
I work at a LFS, we do not take fish from individuals. One day a woman showed up with two beautiful Angel fish that she didn't want and begged someone to take them. I couldn't resist. I had a fully cycled 20 Long with 3 - 1 month old Platy fry. I figured the Angels would eat the fry and was okay with that. They did not eat the platies, but instead got down to business. The first set of eggs all turned white and the Angels ate them. The second set vanished after day 4 or 5 of hatching. They have laid another clutch. I don't really know what to do. If I destroy the eggs I will feel guilty and it won't help because they will lay more. I don't want to let them hatch and lose another set of fry. The biggest issue is that I don't have room for the babies, the angels are really in too small of a tank as it stands. I don't want the fry to grow and pair with each other (incest). I don't think I should sell them because they are different types of Angels. What do I do?
Also, I am using an internal filter. The Angels really like it, they keep laying the eggs in front of the water spout. I am afraid that the last set of fry died because they couldn't swim the current. Should I switch to a simple sponge filter (the internal is a sponge filter) with an air stone? Or just pray for the best.
As much as I know about fish, I am terrible at identifying types of Angel fish. I have pictures. I can upload them in the next day or two. Hopefully someone is able to identify the breed specifics for me.
Thank you in advance for the help!
