Unexpected Platy Fry. Am I doing this correctly? I have a 20 gallon tank and I thought my Sunset Fire Wag Platy looked pregnant. BTW, I know nothing about raising fish. I did some research and found that the other fish would just end up eating the babies and I figured that was best as I already have 2 Platys 2 Rainbow Sharks 1 Pleco 2 Zebra Danios 3 Mollies 1 Glass Barb 1 Panda Catfish 1 Dojo Loach And I didn't want to overload the tank but when I saw a tiny little fish hiding behind the plants I had to try to protect them. I put a divider in the tank and I have seen up to 8 babies at one time on the Fry side of the tank. I feed them the "Fry Food" I bought from the fish store and cyclopse. It's odd because some of the babies are half the size of the others. I've had them about 2-3 weeks and I don't really know how old they can be before pulling the divider out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! |
When they are big enough to NOT be seen as food by the older/bigger fish, Around a month or so, Really depends on the fry and how fast they develop, |
Mine are about a month now, and they're to big to be eaten. So I would wait a month or so. |
