Help me get rid of this residue

I just got a used 38 gallon tank and I want to get rid of this excess silicone residue. I used a razor blade and got rid of the majority of it but there is a very thin film of it left. Ive heard some suggest alcohol, others vinegar, and even acetone. Anyone have any safe ideas? All advice and help appreciated.

vinegar or ammonia and a razor blade. rinse well after.

alcohol or acetone will prob. be toxic.

yea thats what I was thinking too. Ill have to try the vinegar tomorrow morning since I have some here at home, if that doesnt work out well Ill run to the store and grab some ammonia. Thanks for the advice.

I know you can use alcohol in aquariums, just rinse, rinse, rinse and when you think you rinsed enough rinse once more.
