is my tank ok for coral?
i have a 20 gallon eclipse salt water tank, it says its ideal for minature reefs but i was just wondering if anyone knew if my lighting was good or great. i don't know that much about lighting, i wanted to put some polpys and mushrooms in, so soft corals. i have good waterflow i have a fluval internal filter to add increased waterflow and i monitor the water paraments all the time and keep them good, so i wanted to know if im good to go so i dont kill them :-P
Hi im starting a nano reef to pretty soon. I think the rule is still about 4-6 watts per gallon. If i've read everything right soft corals dont need as intense light as hard corals. Also it would help everyone out if they knew what kind of lighting you have.
Im going to use a pc or maby even mod a work light into a halide.
Show pics when you start!!
Ifyou buy those nano cubes they are equipted with the proper light for softies. I will say you will be good for softies only. How long has your tank cycled for.
I don't know how many watts that setup come with, but I'd think you surely be good with mushrooms as well as a good bit of polyps. You may need more light for some softies other than them.
I'd stick with mushrooms, leathers and zoas. You could propogate ricordia well in a set up like that and start making money.
You might be bale to get away with some hammer coral or frogspawn but that might be touch and go.
i think i have a 50 watt, well thanks :-)
