Help with baby plecos!!!!!!!!
Hi.I am new to this forum.I went to feed my fish this morning and to my surprise I have babies!!! The father is a calico pleco ( I thought he was just being unsocial but I guess he was being busy).I have 2 other plecos( 1 albino longfin and 1 lemon spot) I am unsure of the mother. The babies are about 1 inch long so I have no idea how old they are and I have about 15 babies.I did call the pet store and they said just leave them alone.I do drop food tablets everyday(3 differant kinds,I rotate) and flake food.
Any help would be appreciated.Thank you.
If they're an inch long they're already pretty far along and must be eating from your existing menu :)
I pull fry from my male ancistris when they're less than half an inch long, I move them to a floating breeder box so I can target feed them, and I feed them veggie stix and spirulina stix from kensfish.com -- the sticks soften up into a pile of loose soft food pretty quickly so they work great for really small plecos. By the time mine are an inch long, they're back in the main part of the tank and eating veggie wafers and zuchini slices.
The LFS said to feed blood worms.I do feed frozen brime shrimp. I only wish I knew they breed so maybe I could of saved more.Thank you.
