Need another hood

I have a 20g tall Top Fin tank. I also have a lot of floating plants. The problem is the hood design, it directs light downward for the middle 1/3 of the tank while the front and rear 1/3 get next to nothing. I need something that gives light across the total surface area. I'm on a tight budget so I'm looking for a way to fix this cheaply. A new hood? A double fixture hood? A homemade hood? Any ideas?

Well you can get a glass canopy and then put the light on it anyway over the canopy. Unfortunately through unless you get a dual bulb light fixture or two fixtures there is aways going some part of the tank that gets more light and other parts that get less.

I have a glass lid that my fixture sits on, and what I did was put two cups underneath the light to lift it a few inches. It disperses the light a lot better across the top, and keeps my floating plants from burning.

Yes you can get the glass canopy/glass lid at most Pet stores or online.
