Phoenix 14000K bulbs

I just replaced the MH bulbs in my fixture, and I decided to go with Phoenix 14000K bulbs, I think the difference is amazing and am extremely happy with the new bulbs. I bought the fixture used, so I don't know what bulbs the previous owner had in there, but I know they were two different color temperatures because one side was slightly bluer than the other. Anyways, I was trying to decide between 20000K Radiums and 14000K Phoenix's, I'm still really curious to see how the Radium looks. But at $90 per bulb, I don't feel like just "playing around" to find out :)

Here are some before and after pics of my tank (old bulbs compared to new)... my camera doesn't capture the actual color correctly, but you can still tell how much of a difference there is between the two:

yea, i agree.

im personally a fan of more blue like that but really its all preference. 14k is a good medium IMO.

Yeah agreed, I like the more-blue look as well. If I didn't have supplemental actinics, I would have gone with the Radiums. You can really tell a difference by looking at the mushrooms to the left in the bottom two pictures... they used to look almost brown in the daylights, now the green really pops. It's the same with a lot of the colors in the tank (I wish I could fix the color reception of my camera!)

i see that

you cant change the white balance on your camera? point and shoots will have a section usually where you can set blue, black&white, and so on, and then custom. if its an older camera it prob. wont have it. ive been really thinking about spending a good chunk of change on a really nice camera with seperate ( expensive $$$$$$$$$ lol ) lens... maybe after a car.

thats 2 halides and 4 vhos?

conger 06-11-2009 11:41 PM

two 150W halides and two 130W PC actinics. Current USA makes an Outer Orbit fixture that has halides and T5, but since I bought it used I took what the guy had (the MH + PC combo).

yea i was just going to say that if i had the halide combo i would prefer the halides with t5s.
even this would prob work nice
