How much flow.
Have a 90 gallon tank w fish, LR and slowly adding soft corals and inverts. Have a long Tentacle anemone (W Maroon Clownfish hosting), Black Tentacle Sea Urchin and several soft corals. Have a sump w a 540 gph pump and 3 powerheads each moving between 200-300 gph on a wave maker. I approximate about 1200 gph or 12X the volume of the tank per hour. I have a 4th powerhead I haven't installed. Should I? Any information on Polyps?
I have a 75 gallon and one powerhead is pushing 1200-1250 g/hr and the other is pushing out 850 g/hr and my return line from my sump is pushing 748g/hr and honestly I think It could use 1 more powerhead.
Check out hydor koralia stage they make sweet products for cheap!
Two of my 3 powerheads are Koralia. I added a fourth (Also Koralia) last night. Thanks
Which Koralia are in your tank, what stages are they
I run two Koralia 4's on my 90, with a Mag 5 return. I used to have a Mag 9.5 on it but with slowed down flow through the sump, everything down there works better... skimmer, 'fuge, even the heater keeps things more stable.
Some say there's no such thing as too much flow in a reef, but I don't really agree with that, even considering that the statement isn't meant to be taken literally. If I were going to change anything in mine, I'd probably go to three smaller PHs rather than two bigger ones. I'd also have popped for controllable Koralias up front so I could use a wavemaker.
