Rainbow changing color

I've had my 3 rainbows for the past 3 years and they seem quite happy and healthy. I'm not sure what subtype they are, they were just labeled "mixed rainbow fish", but they are usually red and look like the pictures i've seen of red rainbows. I came home today, and one of them has turned a deep purple. The other two have not, but they all still seem happy. Does this mean anything?

Thanks.

I dont know if this will make a difference to you, but i have 5 turquoise rainbows in my one 90 gallon tank and the one male will do this from time to time.........His color darkens for a few days and then its back to normal.........I never really looked into what could be going on with him, because his color always comes back to normal.........Never shown any signs of illness or stress.............Hopefully your rainbow will be fine.....Good luck
