Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg

I just returned from my honeymoon, so I thought I'd share some pics of my visit to Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg. I have been to a number of public aquariums, and this one is by far the best. Although I must say, I always leave disappointed that they do not do more with their coral reef systems.

Want to know how awesome my new wife is? We sat in front of this aquarium for 2 hours:

When we tell you this fish is to big to keep in an aquarium, please listen to us:

In this picture, check out the Powder Blue Tang in the background.

Here is where I get my screen name:

The Sohal Tang (Majestic Tang). Probably to big for my 180.

And the rare Unicorn Tang:

Moving on to their reef aquarium. I was surprised to see this Butterfly fish is reef compatable:

Then I was pleased to see that I am smarter than I realized:

These Crabs are SALTWATER folks. This is an aquarium. They reach a maximum of 12 feet in length and are found in Japan. Wow.

A nice Eel shot:

This Goby did a nice little dance for us:

It is amazing that they can keep this alive:

They say if you step on this fish not to worry, you will be dead before you know the difference:

That was a Stonefish by the way. Found in the Atlantic. Yes, your friendly neighborhood beach has this fish. Good times. Check out the color on its pec fin:

And finally, a Volitan Lion:

They do. Pretty neat. If you are ever in Naples, Florida, there is a small "aquarium" there.... more like a pet shop, but a public aquarium nevertheless. Anyhow, they have several nice tanks where you can interact with the animals and pet them. Starfish, crabs, stingrays, etc. Pretty neat for kids.
