Confused about how to attach coral to live rock
This may be a stupid question, but how to you attach coral to live rock? From what I have seen from different websites coral is sold on some kind of base that can be different depending on where you get it. So how is this base attached to your live rock? Do you use wire ties or underwater epoxy?
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions,

the "base" your talking about is a coral plug. they come as disks, plugs, pieces of live rock rubble, on a shell, a tile and so forth. you can either rest these peices on your rock(which gets them knocked over from time to time) , shove them into cracks and holes, use a cynoacryclate super glue or a putty.

i usually just like to shove the plugs into holes ands cracks because i like to re-arrange from time to time and i also like to try a coral in a few parts of the tank in different light, flow... areas.

So it is not possible to get it off the plug and onto the existing rock in our tanks?

No, you will leave it attached to the plug. Also, a lot of corals will be sold already "attached" to a piece of live rock.

Is that better, to get the live rock chunked coral? Or I guess it really doesnt matter..

It really doesn't matter. Even with the plugs, in a short period of time the plugs blend in with the rock, especially if you wedge them into place.

My Hammer Coral is on a plug. You've seen the picture in my 58 bowfront. You can't even see the plug.

That makes sense.
