Pregnant Guppy?
Well, after doing a bit of research I was fairly confident that al three of my fantail guppies were male. However I noticed that my largest one seemed to be getting....very fat all of a sudden. He/she(not sure which now...)isn't as afraid of the bigger fish and eats a lot, so I thought it might just be fat. But Its about a 50/50 chance I suppose that its pregnant, I have no honest clue. Its looks like my mollies did when they were pregnant, and no other fish in the tank is THAT fat, which is why I'm curious.
So, perhaps someone could give me a little hand? I'd like to know so I can move he/she if they ARE pregnant so that the fry aren't eaten...
(Heres the best picture I have, I hope it helps...)

I would say yes (she) looks preg. An jamesy14 im sure that the reflection off the top of the water. lol

Yeah, thats just its reflection^^ And no, it doesn't always look that fat, its just a very recent bloat.
I talked to a friend and showed her the pictures and she said she was so positive its male that she'd drop dead right then and there if it gave birth. So I'm still not sure D: It doesn't look as fat now as it did this morning(when that picture was taken)and no fry have been spotted. So I suppose I'll just wait for further feedback....
(Here is another picture of he/she from the side, if that helps....)

That's a male guppy, Bank on it!

You'll be waiting one hell of a long time if you expect babies from him :)

That is a male guppy. look at the anal fin. Male guppys have a thin pointed anal fin and females dont.

xD And here I come back after a while of research to confirm its a male, and all the responses x3
Yup, I see that now. All of mine are male, and hes very bloated xD Is there anything I can/should do for that? Or should I just let him alone?

Chicklet 04-18-2009 09:13 AM

Probably just got thru eating,
A lot of mine look like that after meal time.

That's One reason they advise you not to try and sex them after eating,
