New Xenia Coral Frag polyps shriveled HELP!

I purchased a xenia coral frag 3 days ago for a ten gallon nano reef with medium waterflow and 40 watt compact flourescent lighting. It opened up and was doing fine but after I topped off the water its polyps closed and it began to shrivel. Does anyone know what's wrong. Oh and the water quality is fine. HELP!!!

Thanks in advance :frustrated:  :blueworry:

they should re-open with time, just leave them alone for a bit

Yeah, just leave it be. Xenia is a very hardy coral. I accidentally poisoned my tank once and the Xenia was the hardest hit, but it came back strong.

It is also normal for Xenia to completely close a couple of times per day, and then reopen. Mine close like clockwork between the hours of 8pm and 9pm.

As do mine. It's when you see them really withdrawing and coloration darkening for several days is when you have to worry.
