My Glass Thermometer Shattered, What Do I Do?
I just recently bought a Top Fin Glass Thermometer, a type I have used foe years. I put it in my 29G aquarium-in-progress and a few hours later I'm casually checking things out and to my surprise, it shattered. I've never had that happen before. Luckily, I have no fish in the tank yet but I'm not sure what to do. The colored alcohol is still intact and hasn't leaked. I've already taken out the largest shards or glass but I'm sure there's more I can't see. All the little lead-like weights fell through and have mixed in with a corner of my plant substrate. I've tried to scoop some of the weights out with a brine shrimp net, anything else will fall through, but I'm know there's still some there. Will they affect my water quality at all or give my future fish metal poisoning? Then what about the leftover glass?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
