My brother has a 55 gallon tank. He has his lights hanging above his tank which was just enough room for his cat to get into. His cat was up there sitting on the cross bar in the middle of the tank and broke it. He called me today and said it was bowing out now and that it was about 3/4 of a inch off from the rest. Is this need to worry as far as it breaking? Is there any was to fix this?
you can make your own brace with a strip of plexi but im not sure if you can once it is already bowing. i personally would just replace the tank to be safe. 55 gallons of water all over the floor would be a mess.
at the minimum, I'd put a clamp from front to back to support the tank while you make the decision (if you haven't already)
a clamp with rubber feet would work best - they sell them at HD/Lowes..
Oh My!! I have two cats and I would FLIP OUT if this happened to me.
DId the cat fall into the tank?
I would be so nervous...Maybe you should drain it and replace the tank. (but I am no expert)
I hope you have another tank that your current inhabitants of the 55g could move into. Cheers :"))
