I have flourite substrate and need HELP!!!
Ok i just got some flourite substrate to replace the gravel in my tank. Is there a way to put it in or mix in this substrate without emptying my whole tank out? Do i need to tank the fish out when i do this?

I added some a while back to a couple of my tanks. I did it during water change day, with about half the water removed and left the fish in the tank. It did make the water cloudy for a few days.
I dont think I will ever buy it again. My plants in the tanks are doing well, but that fourite is some dirty stuff. I rinsed and rinsed and the water never ran clean. I finally just gave up cleaning it. I guess it did not cloud the water as bad as I thought it was going to.
Also, I used a plastic cup. scooped some of the flourite up, held my hand over the top of the cup as I lowered it to the bottom of the tank, then dumped it at the bottom of the tank as far away from the fish as I could get.

Yea, it cleared up in a few days. The water does look cloudy for a few hours when I do water changes in the tanks with flourite. Maybe that will go away after its been in there longer.
The plants do look better and are growing faster since I added it.

I added mine to cycled tanks, didn't want to disturb the cycle, so I just mixed it with my gravel.
The choice is yours. If you choose not to mix, I would not change it out all at one time. Maybe do 1/3 a week.
