Clown Loach

(clown loach) First off everyone hello and I hope you're doing well. My question is I just got a clown loach and he hides 24/7 and never comes out to swim around or eat. my question is will he ever be more active or are loaches more of a hide and eat off the bottom kind of fish? Well any info would be great even personal experiences. thanks for taking your time to help a newbie.

I think it really comes down to personality, I have had clown loaches that are always out, and some that are always hiding.
The shy ones can find safety in numbers and may become more active with friends. Before adding any more, keep in mind what size tank you have and if you have room for these large fish.

I have three in 75 gal. Two ,,are all over the place like a couple of puppies and the third, prefers hiding under a piece of driftwood. The ones I care for are more active at dawn and dusk.

Get him a friend. I thought it was silly, too, but their behavior really is different when they have a partner. Every one says they "need a group of at least six" but I have two with 5 other tank mates of different species and they do great.
