Lily bulbs floating?
Hello everyone,

I bought some aquarium lily bulbs (3 in a pack) and a pack of aponogeton that came with a green lotus lily-- so 4 total. All four float. I heard that this can be a sign that they are rotted, but it seemed rather unlucky that all 4/4 were dead. So is there any chance of them growing still? It's only been a day but I'm just curious.

I won't buy an un sprouted bulb for this reason... but that may be difficult with some stores. I am pretty sure that floaters won't sprout though, it wouldn't make sense that they would float it they were viable.... I would hate to wait and wait and wait to see if the darn things would sprout only to have to replace them anyway.

Having said that, I don't know as I haven't had to deal with it. How long is a bulb supposed to take to sprout... do you know at what point you can throw in the towel?

The package says a 30 day guarantee that they will sprout by then. But I doubt they would take that long. If not, I will probably actually send them back like they say. I hear the bulbs they send back are usually fresher and sprout, but that takes a while. I really like lilies. They seem sort of hard to find sprouted or as a full plant. I don't even know if ill be able to get them to survive but I'd like to try! :P

It's kind of sad that it seems like review say bulbs are hit or miss. I feel like stores should replace ones sitting on the shelves too long with fresh ones.
