Eco Complete + TMS

Hey guys!

Time once again to set up another tank. Oh yes, the multi tank syndrome has kicked in and it's time to set up my 55 gallon. This tank is going to house all the guys from my 20 and 46 combined and the guys in my 29 are going into my 46. This will enable me to break down and sell my 29 and 20 and just have the 2 larger tanks (ok so the 5.5 gallon doesn't count lol).

My question is: In my 29 I have Tahitian Moon Sand I bought used, but never used.. ya know, open bag special I guess. I got 70lbs for $10 and I'd like to use it in my 55 but I don't feel like 70ish lbs is going to cut it so what I'd like to do is get 2 bags of Eco Complete and mix about 60lbs of the tahitian moon sand in with it (keeping roughly 10lbs for my 5.5 gallon which needs a little more sand) .. Is this a viable option? My other option is 2 bags of pool filter sand but this wouldn't be seeded of course. Well I could go 1 bag and use the sand from my 20 since it's got pool filter sand, about 2 inches of it. I'm thinking 20lbs at least.

Let me know whatcha think. This tank will be set up once I get the sand and another AC70 (I have one already on the 29 which has been running for a year)

I'm going to use the diamond plate shop light from HD until either Current comes out with it's plant LED (no eta) or Finnex comes out with it's Plant+ in November ..

Sooo excited :redyay:

The biggest issue will be the stratification. The larger eco-complete particles will work their way to the top and the sand to the bottom of the substrate. No way to keep the mix homogeneous long term.

turns out I might be moving so I guess this is going on hiatus. Might move everything from The 46 (plants and all) and the 20 and rehome the guys from the 29. I gotta consolidate and the 55 will hold the most livestock. Ugh.
