I dont know but its about 5 in long and 4 in hight got him in with a bunch of fish a quarter his size but goin good so far.. some one gave it to me..55 gal tank

I dont even know what to feed him so far just flake food

You are going to either need to get a tank above 200G or give him away to someone else that has these barbs. They need to be in groups, and get 12"+ long.

I don't think it a tinfoil barb. I've seen those fish before, but I can't remember the name. They do reach similar sizes as a tinfoil though.

What color is the top fin ?
The top fin looks taller than my tinfoil barbs and red in color in the picture.
Are the fins striped or do they just appear that way in the picture?

Twistersmom 03-24-2009 06:28 PM

if the top fin is red, it may be a red tinfoil barb that max out at 8in. Tinfoil barbs lack the red color in the dorsal fin and max out at 14 in.

the top fin is stripped the bottom fins are red and the tail does have tiger barb colors striped

but this guy hasent bothered any one

Found it!

Its a semaprochilodus theraponura. Max size 14". Common name is Flag-Tailed Prochilodus.

I give, I don't know what it is!
It looks like a cool fish!
If you find out what it is, I would like to know too.
Good luck with it!
