Testing Tank Levels Help

I was just wondering; do I do the testing before are after I do a water change? I got my kit today and it doesn't say if I should wait a few minutes after water changing or do it before hand...don't know.

You do it before so you'll know how much to change.

If you were to change the water after a water change then you wouldn't be getting an accurate reading of the tank's parameters. Always test before a change. I always think test kits should give clearer instructions :-)

I would agree with that. lol

You should test before AND after to make sure the intended change happened. Especially at the end of cycling a tank your nitrates might be through the roof and one water change might not be enough. That's why it's a good idea to do a test after to know if you need to do a second water change.
