Ants colony in filter Hi everyone. I just got a FLuval 304 canister filter from a friend. I opened up the little compartment that houses the impeller, and a colony of ants spilled out. Anyone have any ideas as to how to get rid of these? I know chemicals are probably a no-no. Thanks! |
vinegar then rinse. |
I second the vinegar. You could also try aqueous ammonia. I suggest ammonia cuz it's cheap and it's basic (as opposed to acidic). The base strength of ammonia is about equivalent to the acid strength of acetic acid found in vinegar. I suggest covering your nose and mouth and it would also be a good idea to wear some goggles if you're not going to dilute the solution that usually comes in grocery store bottles of clear aqueous ammonia. |
