Banded Loach betta tank....
I was wondering what everyones opinions on getting a 5.5g tank with 2 banded loaches and a male or female betta would be.... some people say terrible idea, some say great. It would be planted with sand substrate. Too small? I could prly go 10g... I just have a tank that looks great nd I have my eye on.... If I couldn't do that, what else would you suggest for a) a betta in a 5.5 gallon or b) banded loaches in a 5.5g. Do banded loaches need a bigger current? Cuz I know bettas hate that..... Please Reply! Thanks!

All loach species (half banded included) prefer to be in the company of each other, five or more is best. A 5.5gl wouldn't handle a group of five. I, personally, would never keep anything less than five when it comes to loaches.
Half banded prefer a current, as you already know.
Between a 5 or 10 if it was me (it's not) I'd go w/ the ten & 5 half banded. I love bettas but I love loaches more :)

ok.... I did some research and came up with a completly diff. Idea. In my fishroom that I am making I have alot of room, so I was thinking of making a river tank, but all the way filled to the top with water, no land. I was thinking 55g. I would have dark sand substrate with some small pebbles in different areas, and large rock, driftwood, and live plants. I would need to do some more research on how to set it up, but I think I could make it work. Sound ok?
