Should I use this for a sump?

Picked up a free 36x12x12 tank from a coworker to make a sump out of. It housed 2 damsels (which I've already adopted out). After cleaning the tank, I noticed a sticker on the bottom that says "Critter Cage do not fill with water". Obviously this was a reptile/rodent cage, not an aquarium.

However, it had water in it, and it survived the half-full trip home. Now I'm torn on whether I should try to give it away to someone else, or try to use it. My thoughts are that since the sump will only be half full anyway, I should be fine, but I don't want to invite disaster. It's all glass, about 1/4" - 5/16" thick.

Any thoughts?

transporting a tank with water ( = weight ) is a risk in itself. the seams get broken and cause leaks, i would look on www.craigslist.com for another deal seeing that this tank was free and didnt cost anything i personally wouldnt take the risk esp. since if this leaks it will cause disaster.

I think you're right, and I'm gonna give the "tank" to a coworker of my wife's for reptile use. At least in adopting out the damsels, I met a guy from the Atlanta Reef Club, and he's given me a bunch of CUC members and some LR rubble so I can seed live coralline algae in my tank.

All in all a positive move, I guess... I need to get my quarantine tank together first anyway.
