Got a new tank and I don't know what species would be good to put in it
I've wanted tropical fish for years and when a 200L fully cycled tank was up for sale I had to buy it. I've never had tropicals before so I'm not sure what to put in the tank if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.
Unless the tank was one third to half full of water ,and filter material was floating or submerged in that water ,and or fish were included with the purchase, I would be suspect of the tank being safe for fish. the tank may have housed one fish or a dozen or more. Were the fish healthy? how much time elapsed after fish were removed from the tank and you purchased it ?
As for what fish to place in the tank assuming, (always a bad thing) that the tank is indeed safe for fish, I would suggest that a trip to the fish store with pen and paper in hand would be a good place to start. Write down the names of fish that interest you and then google information on them or return here and folks will be able to help you with what fish would work together.

Its half full with filter material in it. The fish were taken out 3 days ago I wouldn't mind going through the cycling again if necessary. They were healthy but the owners are moving and sold the stock to an aqaurium shop in exchange for restocking vouchers after they moved. The only fish I know I want are red-tipped black sharks but I know they don't do terribly well in community tanks.

RTBS can be tricky as far as compatibility.....
I agree with 1077....hit up your local fish store and write down some fish you think you would like to have and list them on here!
