New tank help

Hey I'm new to this and I'm trying to start a saltwater tank. It is probably going to be a 20 or 30 gallon reef with 2 false perculas, a clean up crew, and maybe one other fish. Would a protein skimmer be needed for this setup, or any other type of filtration, beside live rock, for that matter?

For any aquarium 10 gallons and up, I would use a protein skimmer. There is a 50% difference in water volume from a 20 gallon to a 30 gallon, so you need to make this decision before we can properly recommend a protein skimmer. We also need to know what type of corals you plan to keep.

Which tank would you recommend for 2 clownfish and one or two others, live rock, and corals. I am not sure which corals I want yet. I am probably going to use power compact lights for the lighting if that makes a difference.

The lights are going to dictate which corals you can keep, but hold no emphasis on what skimmer you'll need. I'd say you could do the AquaC remora or Urchin. (one of them is in-sump and the other is a hang on back)
