| travicki | 03-16-2009 06:02 PM | Hi and thanks. To answer some of your questions, yes, there are fish! 1-16" plecostomus (had since he was about 3 inches and is the sole reason for this tank), 1 butterfly loach, 1- black knife ghost fish (without whom there would be no clear tube in my tank, but my daughter likes to watch him), 11- glass catfish (started with 3, then found out they are schooling so i got more!) 11- otocinclus (2 of which were purchased at my lfs, the other nine, born last year, will be a year old this august!) 1- male betta ( who believes he rules the tank) and 3 ghost shrimp ( at least i think there are still three). As far as plants, I have amazon sword/ crypt/ glossostigma/ java fern/ narrow leaf sag subulata and broad leaf sword. I have only had this tank set up for about 2 months now. It has 60 lbs. of river pebble and 50 lbs. riverbed sand. I use two filters, a magnum hang on canister and a fluval 405. The lighting is an odyssea 260 wt compact fourescent. ( day lights on at 9a.m.-7p.m., moon lights on after that. tank comes alive!!) Keep the temp around 78. I fertilize my smaller tanks once a month and assume i will do the same with this one. I have never really checked the nitrates or the ph in my tanks since years ago. For some reason, fish love my water. We have well water(not sure that makes any difference). Anyway, that's about it. I hope I got all the questions answered. Thanks again for the nice comments. :) |
