HELP! blue ram head problem...
So, about a week ago i bought 2 mature rams form the LFS. a few days ago i noticed an anomaly in the forhead region of the fish. It looks sort of like a little pimple. The fish is getting more sick by the day and will most certaily parish in the next few days.
Can anybody diagnose this illness and tell me a little about the treatment options for such an ailment.
I am debating returning the fish...
here are a couple of pics..
i cant be sure thru pic but looks a lot like symptoms when fish exposed to low low pH for prolonged time.
Is it possible to go check lfs pH if they still have the fish ins ame tank that is.?
If not, check your water parameters and post.
What leads you to believe the fish are getting more sick daily? (i.e. what are they doing?)
As already mentioned,,water test results would be helpful.
Blue rams simply don't do well in the long term in water temps below 82 degrees, they need soft water with pHvalues below7.0,and nitrAtes below 20 with frequent water changes.
It is also possible that the fish was stressed from shipping to dealers tank ,and then to your tank ,and also possible that bacterial or fungal pathogens were already present with fish, along with possible virus that many of these fish succumb to.
You could very well have ideal water conditions but that is not known.
