My Gourami Died....
Hi guys.. hopefully one of you can help me..
I recently upgraded my tank to a 10 g.. for my betta fish and 2 african dwarf frogs, i decided to get a few more fish.. 7 silvertip tetras and one blue gourami.. ive had the new fish for almost 2 weeks now and i came home from work to my bf telling me that my blue gourami(zoolander- RIP) is dead.. anyone have any suggestions as to why this could have happened???
I still have my warranty through petland but i dont know if i should get another gourami... ?!?
Do i have to clean out my tank?!?! my boyfriend removed him almost immediatly?
If I'm reading this correct, I think you put the Gourmai in with the Betta?
If so, I'd guess that's your problem. Betta are not community fish. Not even with other Bettas.
Bettas and gouramis are in the same family and do not get along.
Bettas will attack and usually kill other brightly colored fish.
Here is a fish compatibility chart:

Yeah, I don't think your water parameters or tank is the issue....just sounds like Mr. Betta wanted to be the only colorful fish in the tank....I doubt then also is petland will take him back because it wasn't their fault technically, although I've pulled some fast ones on the stores before when i first started out and knew nothing of capability....
sorry to hear about ZooLander! although it's a great name!
