Have you considered developing a slide show for new members who are new to the hobby explaining such notions as cycling, water changes, stocking ect. it might be better than a new forum that separates them from other more knowledgeable folks like yourself.
I agree with you pop. When I was looking for information regarding water cycles and even tank maintenance in general, the lingo spoken wasn't familiar to beginners. I searched everywhere to find a step by step guide with pictures with no avail :-(
hmm.. maybe a diagram will help? Let me see if I can draw one up and you guys can tell me if it's easier to understand
What type of diagram are you thinking about?
I was thinking of stringing a series of jpeg files together or maybe a few XHTML pages for the slide show.
I see you are a super moderator is it possible to upload a test slideshow that I create.
Unfortunately as a moderator I cannot use coding other than those provided by the forum. are you thinking of making a Jquery slider? I think the essence of you request can be achieved through a series of images in a post :)
I wastít thinking about any particular format just something easy. I do not program or code but was thinking about powerpoint or word presentation slideshow. If possible I would suggest hyper linking from the home page and not bothering with the blogging software.
The admin is hidden from me and I have no way to contact but you might have the key to his door and ear as well so if it is not too much trouble to approach him with this offer for me.
I only make this offer because it might be fun to make a slideshow I havenít done it before and I would learn from the experience.
Ah, I see. I'll let him know :)
You can create a thread and upload the images in separate posts. Then we can sticky the thread if the mods deem the content as something the community can use.
Approval by you and the community is the only way I would consider doing this.
Iam reluctant to post any type of rendering without your and the other moderateís approval. I would prefer email content to you first and after acceptance then post public for community wide critical assessment. I would like to use current articles by members for the production for consistence of content if it is ok with the authors and you.
