my water just is not clear
 
hello,my water is not dirty or cloudy.its just a bit green, i heard it was a algae bloom . i have tried limiting the light but its not working . how do i get my aquarium water clean ?

Hey Steve,

We'd really need more details about your tank setup, maintenance and your water chemistry. In general, algae is often promoted by excess nutrients in the water and too much light. Increasing the volume/frequency of partial water changes and reducing the lighting duration usually controls algae. I would not use a commercial chemical treatment for algae as I feel they can be too hard on the fish.

If you kill the lights and stop adding food, the water will clear
But then that's just my .02
