Need new lights

So should I spend $40 to replace my 30W bulbs or spend about $100 to get a Coralife power compact light strip for freshwater w/ 96W bulb?

What is the "power" life expectancy for the compact vs. a regular flouresent? (That is, how often would I have to replace the bulb to maintain good lighting?)

Any comments about the Coralife compacts?

This is for my 46 gallon, planted tank.

Well, the tank is 3 feet long, and I believe I have only two options for power compact lights -- either 1 96W or 2 96W bulbs. I would be looking at the single bulb, bringing me to just under 2wpg. I want to broaden my planting options, but not necessarily go high tech
