what kind of gravel do I use for a cichlid tank I have had people tell me to use crushed coral for a cichlid tank so what is everybodys opinion what do I use. |
Its completely up to you. You can use any type. It all comes down to what you like. While some people think africans prefer sand, the fact is, they really don't seem to know the difference. While sometimes sand will be good for buffering ph, there are other options for that purpose. Use the substrate you prefer. I like silica sand, but that's just me |
I've heard Eco-Complete for cichlids is good. Never used it myself though |
Eco-Complete is great for a planted tank. Cichlids usually wreck havoc on plants so unless I was doing a planted tank I wouldn't spend the money on Eco-Complete. It's expensive. I prefer sand in my tanks but I think if I was doing a cichlid tank crushed coral or argonite sand would look pretty good. |
