Canister Filter.

My filter came with two different set ups for the out put of the water. A trickle bar with holes in it and a jet nozzel. Ive got the Jet nozzel right now pointed towards my single 200W heater so it will spread the heat evenly. The nozzel is submerged about 5 inchs under the surface of the water and I can see the water ripple on the surface of the water but not very strong... My question is should I have the nozzel closer to the surface to make more of a wake?

It's possible and can actually help with fish that are demanding for oxygen. However if you're planning to have a heavily-planted tank, only the plants may end up being harmed as the oxygen is produced faster than the diffusion of CO2.

Id like to have live plants but being my first aquarium I dont know anything about taking care of live plants. I did take back the sand and got gravel, so I could have them...

There's no need to increase the water movements unless your tank is heavily-stocked.:)
