QT for shrimp?
I want to get some red cherry shrimp for my 15 gallon. Later I will stock it with one (hopefully female) giant betta. My question is do I need to QT the shrimp like fish, or do they not carry the same diseases being invertebrates? There are no fish currently in the tank, but it is planted so I don't want to have to medicate it. Thanks.

you dont need to QT the shrimp, it wouldnt hurt but isnt needed. actually the meds will not only most likely kill the plants but will kill the inverts too.
IMO good choice, cherry reds are awesome. the only issue is that the betta may find them as a snack. is the one in your avatar going to be their tank mate? i think a planted tank with black substrate and a black background with such a red fish and red shrimp would look fantastic. green and red are complimentry colors and black just adds to the pop.

Agreed, as far as I'm aware of fish and inverts don't pass diseases back and forth.
