Outdoor Plant Grow Out Tank
Has anyone set up an outside plant tank? I have a 2.5 gallon unused ane decided to try to speed growth of certain plants I want more of.
Right now it's just asian water grass, anacharis and salivna.
Did you ever add fert or just let the sun do its work?
My current 55g with a couple of goldfish is kinda outdoors. Back porch with three outside walls and the fourth a screen.
The only real difference is the temperture changes hence the goldfish and eventually a heater. The first winter here is alabama (down to 20f or so) I actually had a layer of ice one morning. Heater prevented that.
Operationally it has only sunlight and gets 3 hours of direct sun in the morning when its not cloudy.
So I do have a green water problem which requires wraping the tank in black plastic.
So I would recomment you treat your tank just like an indoor tank with a few fish to feed the plants. And adjust the lighting when you get green water.
I understand goldfish put out an enormous amount of ammonia and organics. Aren't those one-celled photosynthesizing proliferating algae lucky!;-)
