Convict cichlids and otos?
i have a 29 gallon tank that is cycling with 3 zebra danios. I plan on enlarging the school of danios to 5-6 of them, adding a blue gourami, 3 otos and a pair of convict cichlids. i know that the danios and gourami stay at the top and will be fine with the convicts but my question is will the ottos be ok with the convicts?
I wouldn't think so. Convicts are aggressive and fairly predatory, so I imagine they will eat the danios and otos. They will also probably tear the gourami to shreds. When stocking with convicts, it's usually best to put them with other large, rough American cichlids or at least schooling fish that are large and fast, like giant danios or (maybe) Congo tetras.
Convicts will not care where the other tankmates dwell. They will harass everyone as long as they are in the same tank. FYI, convicts are not community fish. Wait until they breed. They breed better than rabbits can and this is just one way to start a pandemonium.
Convicts are risky they are very aggressive just watch out
i would think the chiclids may eat the danios. the zebra ones run smaller than the glofish danios. some chiclids can be aggressive.
