How common or rare is this kind of livebearer?

That depends entirely on your location. Where I am at, they are not too rare. I know a few stores that carry them. Other places they may be impossible to find, except for on-line. IMO the endler is becoming more and more common.

OK thanks. Well I check out every fish store I know of and I have never in my life seen them! I live in Wisconsin too! Milwaukee to be exact, and I can't remember ever having seen them. I guess I will order them online.

If you are ordering them on line, try aquabid. Both Tampafishman1 and SwampRiverAquatics have very nice wild types. Swamp River also has lots of line bred varieties and some hybrids. For a sneak preview of Tampafishman's fish, my avatar is one I got from him.

They're fairly common in Orlando. All three Petsmarts near me have them, but not the LFS, go figure.
