Sad day :'(
I'm very sad. I have to euthanize my first fish today . It's an ancient guppy, but one of my fish nontheless. My rescue guppies apparently still had dormant IP and they gave it to all my other fish when I moved them. I'm moving all the fish (5 cories and 2 guppies) into my QT tank for treatment (time to bring out that Clout that I ordered), but this guy is just too far gone. He is bloated severely and has about 3 open sores (and this is a small fish, so that's practically his whole abdomen). He's just maimed and it's only been a few days since I noticed it and went to work preparing everything for the move.
Oh, and my demon tank is going down too :-(. The setup just didn't work and my fish were never happy. I'll actually be glad to be rid of it because looking at it just made me sad and not relaxed like it's supposed to. Once I set up my 29 gallon I'll be redoing it, but until then I think I'll just bleach the entire thing and scoop out the gunk (or should I say money) :-(. I don't want to get the worms too!
Poor fish, I hope the others will recover fully. I am going to have my dad do it.....because it's just too sad for me .
Hope I didn't depress anyone, it's just no one here understands. When I tell my mom I'm tearing the tank down she'll likely be like "why, there's nothing wrong with it!" The one thing I've learned is to trust my instincts. If something's not right I know it, next time I won't wait so long.
sorry to here that hope it all works out
Kim, I am SO sorry to hear about your fish. :( Its sad when we have to make the decision to euthanize. I sure hope the rest of your fish will be ok. My thoughts will be with you and your fish. :(
I'm sorry Kim, I truly am. :-( Things will get better for you, I know it.
I'm sorry to hear of your loss Kim, it's always difficult to euthanize a fish.
So sorry. Glad you have your father to do it for you, I would not be able to do it myself either.
:( sorry to read this, chin up chicken :)
i'ts always hard to have to do this, and face losing your fish too,
don't ever be worried about talking about these situations, you need to do it.!!
The poor little guppy is gone now. My mom had to do it because my dad wasn't there. He was really so bad off that I can't believe he was still swimming. I hope he's at peace now.
My other fish are quite happy in my quarantine tank (much more so than in the demon tank) and I have been observing them over the course of the day. Some of their poops look pretty normal, but since I SAW the white poops in the aquarium before the move I know I still need to treat them all to prevent infecting my new tank. I'll drop in a tablet tomorrow after I use the turkey baster to remove the poop and do a partial water change. That way I will be home and able to watch them and make sure nothing goes wrong.
That's the one thing I hate about my tanks being in my room. It's really relaxing if everything is working right, but since I have a...habit...of rescueing things that has been all too rare as of the past 6 months. And then I have to deal with sick or dying fish in my room when I sleep....which kind of makes it hard to do.
Anyway, I'll have to make a post about some cool ideas to do with my 15 gallon once I clean it to cheer myself up.
