Take a look at my bettas' permanent homes!
Well, last night I finally moved all my bettas into their permanent homes. Flame and my new guy are sharing a divided 10 gal, and Professor Lupin is in Flame's old 5.5 gallon because he still needs careful care.
Flame and my new betta (unnamed yet) are loving being able to almost see eachother. The new guy's colors are brighter and he built a nice bubble nest which he hasn't done before. Flame has been much more active and has done his usual scattering of bubbles across the top. Professor Lupin blew a nest too, so I think he's ok with the downgrade which I was concerned about.
Here's the pics. The tank is still only half decorated. I need some more plants for the right side and I'd like to get floating plants for both of them, but it's coming along.

Hope you like. Any suggestions are welcome (yes, I know it needs a background lol)! I'm just glad that everything went smoothly because when I was doing everything I was extremely stressing out over that! My bettas are like my babies.
I like it! Once you get the background up I'll love it! :-)
My two guys are side by side (separate tanks) with a "screen" so they can't see each other as they *hate* each other. It's nice that you're two are okay with each other.
They actually seem to be loving the interaction. They aren't stressed by it at all, and have actually brightened up. Flame was looking a little depressed before but now he seems much more active. They can't really see eachother fully, more like a general outline. Actually, they like to flare a bit, then go do their own thing on the other side of the tank. So they don't always see eachother.
I don't know if they saw eachother or not last night, but they were sleeping side by side! One on each side of the divider. It was cute, and I'm actually liking the setup a lot more than my separate tanks. My only worry was that they might jump the divider or somehow find a way through, but it is sealed off on all sides and the top rests on the top of the divider so there's no way they can jump.
Now I just need to put the canister filter on there because the HOB one was too powerful for my lazy Flame ;)
the tank looks lovley kim !
i'll enjoy watching it grow.
They do look very nice! Your fish have such beautiful colors! They just look so bright and happy!
lovely set up! even if it is only half done. it's gonna look amazing when youre all done =D
I did something really cool with the filter that is working WONDERFULLY. I just set up my canister filter so that the intake (covered by nylon) is in one side of the divider, and the out take tube is set up on the other side with the holes pointing at the back wall and slightly downward. So, the water is circulating from one side, then through the filter to the other, which pushes more water to the other side, and the cycle continues. There is practically no current on either side, but all the water is getting filtered.
Anyway, both the bettas are still very happy. Flame has scattered bubbles in his normal fashon all over the entire top of the tank, and the new guy's bubble nest has grown to huge proportions. In the 5.5 gallon Professor Lupin has 2 nests going at once, and also has bubbles scattered around randomly across the surface.
So, everything goes well in betta land ;) I'll update with some more pictures soon.
Glad to hear that your bettas are doing well in their new homes. :)
Looks great! Cuz of the color of the wall, u dont really need a background!
